granny over 70

On Wednesday this week it was 70 degrees so I couldn't resist going out for a ride ride. It'll probably be the measure warm day for a long time as I think winter has finally come to NC. I love riding my bike - have I mentioned that before? I rode 20 miles at 16.6 mph. My focus was not so much riding hard but riding well - with good cycling skills. While I rode. I took mental notes about what exactly are good cycling skills. Some of these skills I got from schedule; some I just figured out on my own; and some I picked up doing my workouts. Try to maintain your speed and form while dealing with issues. For example drinking water wiping your nose grabbing a gel pack etc. Always do this on every go even if you aren't specifically training for a race. This habit ordain pay off in your races. Example: I always get a runny nose when cycling. It's very annoying. I used to carry a small hanky by tucking it into the elastic leg of my bike shorts. I'd grab it wipe my nose then tuck it in again all while trying to maintain my speed and form. I eventually abandoned that idea for simply using my transfer to rub my nose then wipe my transfer on the back of my shorts or apparel…gross yes - but it's easier than using the hanky. Now you are probably thinking: "Note to self: don't shake Carol's transfer after a bike go." (denote that you also don't be to stand next to me in the lake before a race)! When going down a hill that is immediately followed by a climb try to close in your body in as tightly as possible. Shift up to your highest gear and ride as fast as you can even if it means super spinning. For me at least spinning fast makes having to bring home the bacon hard up the next forge feel easier. I can't explain that but it works for me. When it's windy close in your be in as tightly as possible and create by mental act you are in a wind tunnel. Focus on feeling the air move over your body and position your be to minimize the feel of the air. I love windy days because this is fun. To rest or not to stand going up a hill? I don't have the answer to that question. I do both depending on how I feel at the moment. Generally speaking tho on long gradual hills. I shift to a lower gear and stay seated. On shorter harder climbs. I'll stand up. On really steep climbs. I'll alternate sitting and standing. change surface transitions. I'm not talking about T1 and T2 either. I mean smooth transitions between sitting and standing keeping spinning the entire.

So basically when I said I was bored and needed excitementI dint meanWaking up at 9.15am to the screams of Mom and SisSaying granny had a fall and hit her continue against the toilet bowl. So I kinda peeked out to see what was going on. There was A LOT of daub on the floorOne thing about me. I cannot stand looking at blood. So it was a go to the emergency at TTSH. About 3.5 hrs of waiting then she had her examine and stitches done. So Mom left for work and Sis left for church. And the nurses undergo to get ready rooms up till now4:51pm and we're comfort not at the ward. Granny's inside and i'm outside,not allowed to go on in. So I guess I have to be in charge of everything now. The funny thing is she still asked me to call her friend to buy 4D in her state. Granny’s 83 years old and she is VERY HEALTHY. I mean she doesn’t look an age over 70. I know she doesn’t be us to mind about her she tried to be strong. We have to stay over night for observation. There's something else they need to check AGAIN. I offered to accompany her to make sure she was good at nightBut she was saying stuff desire she dint want me to be tired and worried about her. I was kinda thinking of what she said a few weeks back when she got back from Perth. My uncle and aunt dint want to get her alone in Perth with me Aussie aunt because they were afraid something might happen to her while she is there. Granny told me she knew she was a burden she felt it. So this measure I had to ensure her that I do love her and the only way for her to understand is through my actions. My Granny’s like a chocolate éclair. Hard on the outside but very soft inside. I’m tired but I cannot say it she needs me. Just like i be her. :)Toooooooooooooodles!

We're having a pie fest next weekend. I drink at making pies. Or rather. I suck at making pretty pies. But for Pie Fest 2007 I want to have a pretty pie that tastes better than everyone else's pie. That's right it's been a while but I've been busy ( classes working lifeguarding selling some of my possessions/soul to help my sister get to college cramming in measure to train. I conclude flabby I've only run once this week and I ordain get in a 7 miler tomorrow to get prepped for Hammerfest and little go coming up in a week. Sunday was a good day as I blew the dust off of trusty Enrico and went on a 6 town 60 mile tour of New Haven and Hartford County. Yes for those of you who don't experience Enrico is my sisters' pet name for my road bike. I am currently in the process of debating whether or not reliable Enrico ( with it's road gearing and granny gear goodness) to power my way through a New England Pyrenees senario or if I should experience the climbs on The Bitch Stomper to gain speed and braking confidence on the flats and suicidal decents. It's such a tough call. For my long ride on Sunday I took out old Enrico and decended drink to route 69 ( using a sucidal forge that I crawled drink because cars F**king fly up and down it and I don't want to be a road pizza 2 miles in.) After crossing and turning on to 322 climbing "the Hill" come Pat's IGA I was treated to car infested rolling pavement until the usual fork in the road ( where I always go left ) and decended past the play cover into Southington. If I had gone right I would be treated to a 70-80 mph descent down the 10% gradient Southington mountain.. trying to stop... not my idea of fun.... any way when I reached the bottom of 322 I took a alter on to Marion Rd. I followed Marion Rd. Past Ansico Farms. over a hairy stech of grooved pave. across despatch 70. Then onto despatch 70 then onto despatch 10 staying far to the right to avoid merchandise and onto 42 to Lock 12 lay and the canal trail. I followed the ride trail all the way to Hamden then back to its go away inform in Cheshire ( about 18-20 miles) I back roaded it to route 70 before crossing back onto Marion Rd and then when I reached 322 I crossed and followed the other half of Marion rd into Southington. Waterbury and Wolcott at the same time for 2 seconds) I then turned right onto Todd Rd. ( and officially back into Wolcott) and rode through it's nice somewhat pitted rollers finishing off with a lovely 40-45mph descent. I turned on to Wood go road and rode past rode up boundline again getting on to despatch 322 before getting onto 69 and doing a lap of my old hood and riding the last accommodate mile domiciliate. All in all it was about 60 miles in 5 hours average go was about 16.5 mph not an hide shattering preserve breaking pace but it wasn't supposed to be. I capped my Sunday off with a 3100 yard pool work out up at Central. Monday was a some what rest day.. went to categorise ,lifeguarded got in about 1000 yards in the share trying to pace Bjoern. Tuesday I got up early and got in a 4 mile run followed by work class a 3500 share workout and collasping until 8 am this morning.
